BuRStS #43 (Part 1): Jason Bourne, In Order of Disappearance, Jack Goes Home, Kicks & Ordinary World

Of the 10 films released this week, MHT has only seen 2 of them. So, most of the advice you’ll be getting this week on what to buy, rent, stream and skip will be based on the ratings of others. Here’s the first of 2 batches of movies for your home viewing consideration:

Jason Bourne —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: Also known as The Bourne Money Grab.

Why Buy?

You have the other movies in the series.

Why Rent?

You have seen the other movies in the series.

Why Stream?

You’re binge watching the series.

Why Skip?

You’re Jimmy Kimmel.

MHT Verdict: Buy it!

There are worse things you could waste your money on.

In Order of Disappearance –DID NOT REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Black comedy about a snow plow driver who uncovers evidence that his son was murdered.

Why Buy?

You love saying “Stellan Skarsgard” as much as I do.

Why Rent?

Because you found it for rent somewhere.

Why Stream?

This has been floating around since 2014 but finally made it to the States. Reward the journey!

Why Skip?

Is it plow or plough? Until that’s determined, you’re sitting this one out.

MHT Verdict: Rent it!

The suggestion is to plow right through this one.

Jack Goes Home –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Jack’s dad dies in a brutal car accident and his world spirals into turmoil.

Why Buy?

Rory Culkin is Jack!

Why Rent?

This has to be better than Mother’s Day which means Britt Robertson is on her way up, right?

Why Stream?

You ran out of sleeping pills.

Why Skip?

Rory Culkin is Jack!

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

This can’t be watchable.

Kicks –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: A 15-year-old inner city youth thinks a pair of sneakers will transform his life. They do, in ways never expected.

Why Buy?

It’s a visionary tale that deserves more than the $150k it brought in at the box office.

Why Rent?

You would but you’re saving up for some fresh kicks yourself.

Why Stream?

That’s Mahershala Ali in another supporting role.

Why Skip?

You’d rather wear flip flops.

MHT Verdict: Rent it!

This could be one of those overlooked films that gains steam in the home market.

Ordinary World –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Husband and dad tries to relive his punk rock past in a mid-life crisis. This is so out of character for Billie Joe Armstrong, isn’t it??? (Yes, that Billie Joe Armstrong!)

Why Buy?

You missed the Green Day tour this year.

Why Rent?

The original title was Geezer. Points for the upgrade to Ordinary World.

Why Stream?

The funny supporting cast includes Selma Blair, Judy Greer, Fred Armisen and Brian Baumgartner.

Why Skip?

You aren’t an American idiot.

MHT Verdict: Stream it!

At least the lead should bring some authenticity to the role.
