It’s a light week on the home front for movie releases. With only three new options, will anything get the “Buy” recommendation? Check out the latest releases due out March 22nd:
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (Not Reviewed)
Super Simple Synopsis: The YA dystopian tale that started them all comes to an end. (Unless you count Harry Potter or Twilight or even Lord of the Flies.)
Why Buy?
You’re a huge Katniss fan and own the rest of the movies in the series (which is usually a big mistake considering there’s likely a box set with added features and other cool stuff due to come out around the holidays… just sayin’.)
Why Rent?
You need to know how the series ends because you keep accidentally coming across these films on cable and are all caught up now.
Why Stream?
You have a habit of watching the last films of movie franchises without seeing the others.
Why Skip?
You’d rather see if that diamond ring would shine.
MHT Verdict: Rent it!
Even though I haven’t seen one movie in The Hunger Games franchise, now that it’s over, it might be worth a binge watching.
Daddy’s Home (Check out our Movie Hot Take from last year)
Super Simple Synopsis: If Step Brothers was re-written to be about Step Dads.
Why Buy?
You think Will Ferrell is funny and can’t wait for the bargain bin three pack of Daddy’s Home with two other random Ferrell movies at Walmart next year.
Why Rent?
You miss Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. You’ve had a bad day, don’t want to think and need a good laugh.
Why Stream?
You heard there was a must see cameo in the last 5 minutes of the movie and have to see who it is.
Why Skip?
You already asked mommy.
MHT Verdict: Rent it!
Daddy’s Home isn’t Will Ferrell’s best work but it has a few laughs.
The Letters (Check out our Movie Hot Take from last year)
Super Simple Synopsis: The story of Mother Teresa based on letters she wrote over 50 years.
Why Buy?
You’re excited to learn the news of Mother Teresa becoming a Saint and think this would be a great way to celebrate.
Why Rent?
You are intrigued enough by the story of Mother Teresa but weren’t moved enough to see it in theaters or inspired enough to own the movie.
Why Stream?
You feel like this being available to stream is a sign and now you must see it.
Why Skip?
You’re waiting for Mother Teresa 2: Electric Boogaloo.
MHT Verdict: Stream it!
While it has some dull moments, The Letters is informative and gives good insight on the struggle and sacrifice of Mother Teresa.
Marky Mark and the funky bunch! Donnie D on the back up! Drug free so put the crack up! What??? What does that mean???
Love this article … Will Ferrell and Mother (soon to be Saint) Teresa together again!
Stop, I’m killing me. Wish i had my laugh track. 😉
