BuRStS #35 (Part 2): Swiss Army Man, Broken Vows, Laid in America, Snow Bride & Wild Oats

Highlighted by what might be the most unusual movie of 2016, here’s the 2nd part of BuRStS #35:

Swiss Army Man —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: A stranded, suicidal man finds reason to live in a flatulent corpse.

Why Buy?

Daniel Radcliffe gives the best performance as a corpse since that guy in Weekend at Bernie’s. (What? You thought I’d make a Kristen Stewart joke here?)

Why Rent?

Paul Dano is so weird and it’s delightful.

Why Stream?

Member Harry Potter? Member that girl in 10 Cloverfield Lane? I member.

Why Skip?

You aren’t a fan of anything unusual.

MHT Verdict: Buy it!

Some great performances lace this off-the-wall movie that’ll have you asking, “What the hell am I watching?” in the best way possible.

Broken Vows –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: A New Orleans bachelorette party fling turns obsessive and violent.

Why Buy?

You really miss those sexy thrillers of the ’90s.

Why Rent?

Jaimie Alexander was good in TV’s Blind Spot.

Why Stream?

You think Wes Bentley is underrated.

Why Skip?

There’s a reason they stopped mass producing these types of films after the ’90s.

MHT Verdict: Rent it!

A good cast and a gender bending twist on an otherwise generic plot makes this one worth a rental.

Laid in America –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Two foreign exchange students are kidnapped while trying to get laid on their last night in America.

Why Buy?

Nope.

Why Rent?

Probably not.

Why Stream?

Is it on Netflix?

Why Skip?

You’re getting laid.

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

Stop making crap like this, please.

Snow Bride –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: One of those Hallmark Channel movies.

Why Buy?

You can’t find the Hallmark Channel on your cable provider. (Hint: Look for Frasier or The Golden Girls.)

Why Rent?

You have 2 hours to live and the only cure is a bad movie.

Why Stream?

I’m sure you’ll come up with a reason why you did it when someone catches you watching it.

Why Skip?

Winter weddings suck.

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

This looks like torture and I haven’t looked beyond the cover art.

Wild Oats –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: A widow receives a $5 million life insurance check in error.

Why Buy?

Jessica Lange, Shirley MacLaine & Demi Moore.

Why Rent?

You missed it on cable.

Why Stream?

You don’t have cable.

Why Skip?

You’re under the age of 50.

MHT Verdict: Stream it!

It has nothing to do with the movie quality of this movie but the poor quality of the other options over the last two weeks.
