BuRStS #36 (Part 2): Our Kind of Traitor, The Good Neighbor, Independence Day Resurgence, Nessie & Me & Razors

Our Kind of Traitor highlights what is a particularly rough week for home viewers. Here’s the second half of what the buy, rent, stream and skip for the week of October 18th:

Our Kind of Traitor —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: Oops… I fell into some espionage!

Why Buy?

You love John le Carre spy novels converted to the big screen.

Why Rent?

Ewan McGregor is a competent actor and he was Obi Wan, too.

Why Stream?

The movie might not be great but Naomie Harris is easy on the eyes.

Why Skip?

You prefer Trader Joe.

MHT Verdict: Buy it!

Typically, the recommendation would be rent it but this is a bad week so it gets an upgrade.

The Good Neighbor –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Guess what? The titular neighbor isn’t that good.

Why Buy?

How can you go wrong with an over-the-top James Caan?

Why Rent?

You saw Don’t Breathe and thought, “What if they made it boring?”

Why Stream?

Because you haven’t seen enough “found footage” films.

Why Skip?

The 1-for-9 critical approval rate is disconcerting even if it is a small sample size.

MHT Verdict: Rent it!

More proof this isn’t a great week for home viewing.

Independence Day Resurgence —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: If this is our future, maybe the aliens can have it.

Why Buy?

Nostalgia.

Why Rent?

Desperation.

Why Stream?

Curiosity.

Why Skip?

Intelligence.

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

Just trust me on this one.

Nessie & Me –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis:  I can’t even.

Why Buy?

No.

Why Rent?

No!

Why Stream?

No!!!

Why Skip?

That’s more like it.

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

Some studio spent $750,000 making this monstrosity. Why?

Razors –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Hey, everybody! Jack the Ripper’s back!

Why Buy?

Because it’s better than Nessie & Me.

Why Rent?

You haven’t seen a low budget horror film released in a few minutes.

Why Stream?

Because it’s available on every streaming service available.

Why Skip?

You’ll wait until the next low budget horror film which should be out any second.

MHT Verdict: Stream it!

I told you it was a slow week.
