BuRStS #38 (Part 1): Bad Moms, Gleason, Imperium & Uncle Nick

8 choices make it to the shelf this week for your potential viewing pleasure. This week doesn’t have too many absolute duds and Bad Moms headlines the first group of 4 as arguably the funniest movie of the summer. Check out MHT’s recommendations on what to buy, rent, stream and skip for the week of November 1st:

Bad Moms —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: The semi-biographical tale of Adele, apparently.

Why Buy?

Mila Kunis is brilliantly funny and Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn are pretty great, too.

Why Rent?

You’re not going to return it but you’d rather own it by being bad like the title suggests.

Why Stream?

You hacked your neighbor’s cable and have found a way to charge them for all of your on demand purchases.

Why Skip?

Your kids won’t give you a minute to yourself.

MHT Verdict: Buy it!

Kunis is great and Bell and Hahn make for a great supporting cast. It’s laugh out loud funny. That’s right, I spelled “laugh out loud” all the way out. Deal with it!

Gleason –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: The documentary of Steve Gleason, a 34-year-old former football player who found out he had ALS and was an expectant father in the same month. Grab your tissues!

Why Buy?

You need something to watch any time you get something in your eye and can’t get it out.

Why Rent?

Because the sight of it afterward will bring you to tears.

Why Stream?

He’s got ALS and a kid is on the way! That’s why my eyes are streaming! Oh, wait… you meant… ummm… because I said so.

Why Skip?

You’d prefer Gleason to be something that reminds of you Jackie Gleason, the man who played Ralph Kramden.

MHT Verdict: Stream it!

Because your eyes will be doing just that.

Imperium –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: Harry Potter goes undercover to take down a group of white supremacist terrorists.

Why Buy?

So you can point to it and say, “You’re the Grand Wizard, Harry!”

Why Rent?

It’s certified fresh by Rotten Tomatoes.

Why Stream?

You’re still skeptical Harry Potter can do anything other than play himself.

Why Skip?

Can’t we all just get along?

MHT Verdict: Rent it!

Daniel Radcliffe might get out from the shadow of Harry Potter after all.

Uncle Nick –NO REVIEW–

Super Simple Synopsis: A complete waste of time.

Why Buy?

You have a family member who swears they were an extra somewhere in the movie.

Why Rent?

You don’t really care that much for that family member.

Why Stream?

You really don’t care that much.

Why Skip?

Come to think of it, you might not even really be related.

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

Bah humbug!
