This week, we’re back to splitting up the choices to watch at home as there’s a number of movies worthy of seeing. While the #1 choice of what to buy this week was easy (and will headline Part 2 of BuRStS), the second choice wasn’t so easy. See the rest of this post for which one MHT recommends to buy along with what to rent, stream and skip for the week of November 22nd:
Yoga Hosers –NO REVIEW–
Super Simple Synopsis: Kevin Smith makes a teen comedy. (No, really!)
Why Buy?
You didn’t hate Tusk.
Why Rent?
You hated Tusk but you’ve since forgiven Kevin Smith.
Why Stream?
The title screams, “Watch me, eh!”
Why Skip?
After Tusk, you’ll never watch another Kevin Smith movie ever again.
MHT Verdict: Buy it!
Personally, I’m a big fan of Smith and find his approach and ability to gain funding for something as far-fetched as Yoga Hosers which is a spin-off of the even more ridiculous Tusk that Smith somehow scored funding for, also, deserves support. If you only rent it that’s okay, too.
Good Kids –NO REVIEW–
Super Simple Synopsis: The team that brought you American Pie thinks it’s been long enough since you’ve seen American Pie they can reboot it without actually calling it a reboot.
Why Buy?
They’re sold out of American Pie.
Why Rent?
Member Zoey Deutch in Everybody Wants Some!!!? I member!
Why Stream?
Randy Couture? Okay, how’d they work him into this… I guess I have to watch.
Why Skip?
Unless someone is banging an apple pie, you’re out.
MHT Verdict: Stream it!
There’s enough here to give it a whirl.
I.T. –NO REVIEW–
Super Simple Synopsis: Another bad Pierce Brosnan movie.
Why Buy?
Sometimes Pierce Brosnan comes over and he gets really angry when you don’t have his latest movie sitting on your coffee table.
Why Rent?
Paranoia flicks rule.
Why Stream?
You thought it said ET.
Why Skip?
At 63, why should we expect Pierce Brosnan to start making good movies now?
MHT Verdict: Skip it!
Pierce Brosnan. Need I say more?
Kubo and the Two Strings —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—
Super Simple Synopsis: A vengeful spirit puts Kubo’s family and himself in danger. Kubo must fight back in this imaginative animated adventure from LAIKA.
Why Buy?
The animation is amazing, the story is imaginative and Kubo is a character you’ll warm to.
Why Rent?
You’ve seen LAIKA animated films before and were impressed.
Why Stream?
You love a more mature story to accompany your animated tale.
Why Skip?
You got no strings on you.
MHT Verdict: Rent it!
It was tough to choose Yoga Hosers over Kubo and the Two Strings and it wouldn’t be a bad alternative if Kevin Smith isn’t your cup of tea.
