If you’re completely caught up on your home viewing, this week is going to be a big disappointment for you. There are only 3 releases this week and the list isn’t very impressive. Here’s what to buy, rent, stream and skip for the week of May 9th:
Buy It! (Or Rent It!)
A Street Cat Named Bob –NO REVIEW–
Super Simple Synopsis: The true story of a homeless recovering addict who befriends a cat named Bob and has his life changed forever.
Why Buy (Or Rent)?
This heartwarming tale is easily the pick of the litter this week. It’s also available on Netflix so you could even stream it even though it has received a higher honor in the MHT recommendations this week.
Stream It!
A Fantastic Fear of Everything –NO REVIEW–
Super Simple Synopsis: A children’s author writing a crime novel about serial killers has developed an irrational fear of everything thanks to his research.
Why Stream?
The film features Simon Pegg and looks ridiculous. However, looking ridiculous might help it in the comedy department. Don’t have too much hope, though. It scored a 33% on the Tomatometer and has a 34% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Skip It!
Fifty Shades Darker —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—
Super Simple Synopsis: The second installment in the Fifty Shades saga. Christian Grey is back and out to entice Ana Steele for a new arrangement… and lots of sex.
Why Skip?
If you didn’t see Fifty Shades Darker in theaters or are wondering whether or not to see this sequel on home video then this film (and it’s predecessor) is not for you.
I for one am terrified to watch a streetcat named bob. What if it is really really sad at the end?

A Street Car Named Bob would have been a good movie.
How did that cat get named Bob? Does he ever go by Robert?
