The First 25 Movies of the Next 100 Movies of 2018, Graded

It’s unlikely we’ll make it to 150 for 2018 any time soon but we made it back to 125 again at MHT. That’s a decent amount of films to see in a year, right? While there was only one 5 star film amongst the 25 (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), not one film of the last 25 scored less than “Thumbs Eh” which is a first since launching Movie Hot Take. Even if I’m being too generous with the final few films in this group, this is still a really solid group of films to hit theaters around the same period of time. Sure, it has a lot to do with Oscar season but that’s not always the case when it comes to the way films are released.

A quartet of excellent films not quite good enough to make any real noise when it comes to Awards.

All 5 of these films weren’t good enough, in my opinion, to make it above mediocre but I’m sure you could find someone out there who loved every one of these films. That’s how good this group of 25 was.
