The “Thumbs Up” Group
Hell Or High Water (5 / 5) REVIEW
The best movie of the summer. By far.
Pete’s Dragon (4 / 5) REVIEW
Captain Fantastic (4 / 5) REVIEW
Kubo and the Two Strings (4 / 5) REVIEW
Star Trek Beyond (4 / 5) REVIEW
Most of the summer was disappointing but there were some minor gems at the end of the season. Pete’s Dragon and Star Trek Beyond were pleasant surprises and Captain Fantastic and Kubo and the Two Strings were as advertised.
Bad Moms (3.5 / 5) REVIEW
Southside With You (3.5 / 5) REVIEW
Don’t Breathe (3.5 / 5) REVIEW
Indignation (3.5 / 5) REVIEW
Café Society (3.5 / 5) REVIEW
Lights Out (3.5 / 5) REVIEW
Outside of the fact that Don’t Breathe and Lights Out were horror movies (yet completely different horror movies), this six pack of solid movies couldn’t be more different. MHT has unofficially declared Bad Moms the comedy of the summer.
Morgan (3 / 5) REVIEW
War Dogs (3 / 5) REVIEW
Anthropoid (3 / 5) REVIEW
Ghostbusters (3 / 5) REVIEW
The slightly above average group probably contains at least one movie you hated if you saw all four.
The “Thumbs Eh” Group
The Light Between Oceans (2.5 / 5) REVIEW
Equity (2.5 / 5) REVIEW
Hands of Stone (2.5 / 5) REVIEW
Jason Bourne (2.5 / 5) REVIEW
Suicide Squad (2.5 / 5) REVIEW
Nerve (2.5 / 5) REVIEW
This six pack includes the cash cow that is Suicide Squad.
The “Thumbs Down” Group
Sausage Party (2 / 5) REVIEW
Overrated R-rated animation that somehow has audiences and critics fooled into thinking racial stereotypes and food orgies are some form of genius.
Florence Foster Jenkins (1.5 / 5) REVIEW
Nine Lives (1.5 / 5) REVIEW
Maybe we can’t agree on FFJ but I’m sure you’re with me on Nine Lives being awful.
Mechanic: Resurrection (0.5 / 5) REVIEW
Not quite the worst movie of the summer (that title belongs to The Angry Birds Movie) but still pretty painful to watch.
