BuRStS #41 (Part 2): Hell Or High Water, Hands of Stone, Mechanic: Resurrection & War Dogs

If you missed Hell Or High Water in theaters, don’t let the opportunity to see it at home pass you by. This was one of the best movies of the year (maybe the best) and an easy choice for what to buy this week. Along with Hell Or High Water, here are the other recommendations from MHT on what to buy, rent, stream and skip for the week of November 22nd:

Hell Or High Water —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: Two brothers turn to robbing the banks that aim to take their family’s land when they default on the payments.

Why Buy?

Outside of Sing Street, it’s the best movie of the year.

Why Rent?

No matter how good a movie is, you don’t buy them so this is your only option.

Why Stream?

You haven’t figured out how to rent movies since Blockbuster shut its doors so this is your only option.

Why Skip?

You live in a cave so this is your only option.

MHT Verdict: Buy it!

It won’t disappoint.

Hands of Stone —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: The biopic of Roberto Duran.

Why Buy?

Boxing movies are your thing. (Hey! They’re my thing, too!)

Why Rent?

You want to buy but Usher as Sugar Ray Leonard? Come on!

Why Stream?

Robert De Niro is enough to get you to watch. Then again, that’s what you said when you watched Dirty Grandpa.

Why Skip?

You’ve said, “No mas!” to biopics.

MHT Verdict: Rent it!

Hands of Stone has it’s flaws but the story of Duran is compelling enough to overcome the flaws.

Mechanic: Resurrection —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: Guess what, Arthur Bishop isn’t dead.

Why Buy?

I consulted the biggest Jason Statham fan I know and he couldn’t come up with a reason so why would you expect me to come up with one?

Why Rent?

You get to see Jessica Alba in a bikini.

Why Stream?

You need to not think for about 2 hours.

Why Skip?

Your car is running fine, what do you need a mechanic for?

MHT Verdict: Skip it!

Outside of the previously mentioned bikini shots of Alba and a beautifully shot scene involving a high-rise pool, there’s nothing to see here.

War Dogs —MOVIE HOT TAKE REVIEW—

Super Simple Synopsis: The somewhat true story of two young men who scored a $300 million contract from the Pentagon.

Why Buy?

You thought The Hangover was so good, you feel like you owe a small debt to director Todd Phillips so buying War Dogs is the least you could do.

Why Rent?

You’re a big fan of Jonah Hill or Miles Teller but not both. Nobody is a fan of both of them. It’s statistically impossible.

Why Stream?

Bradley Cooper is in it, too? Okay. Why not?

Why Skip?

You’re holding out forĀ Conflict Cats.

MHT Verdict: Stream it!

It’s not a good movie but it flies by and there’s a few memorable scenes.
